Women are the mothers of a nation. They are the creators of future generations and the manner in which they rear children, the choices they make for them and the opportunities they provide will ensure these young beings thrive in an ever-changing society. The United Nations identified the global eradication of poverty in all its forms as the first of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals (United Nations, 2015). One way to eliminate this, is to intervene at root level of education which is Early Childhood Development (ECD)- where the seeds of success are planted. In response to this, the government has made ECD a national priority.

Techademy is founded by a woman for woman and is primarily focused on women empowerment within the ECD sector. This is achieved through employing an innovative practical approach to ECD teacher training. What makes Techademy unique?

Techademy is an expression of my creative spirit when it comes to the idea of merging education with technology. I am a firm believer that education, through technology, is an instrument for social change and Techademy and its ideals is my contribution to social responsibility. Techademy is also a resource centre for teachers who need support and guidance in the field of pedagogy and is also assistance for the educator parent who believes in the home school paradigm and strives to succeed at it.
